Porch Time

 Yesterday seemed like a good day to sit on a porch and enjoy summer.  Though this is not my porch I do love the  shadows from these rockers.

Starline Library

In one of the nooks and crannies at the Starline there are hundreds of old catalogs and patent books covered in dust and slowly fading away. I want these -I don't know why, just feel they have all kinds of potential as a new piece of art.

No escape from pattern obsession

 What can I say? I can't resist.

 Metal and wood abstraction at the Starline. Always finding new things to shoot there.

 Reflections in a decorative glass plate. I could shoot this plate all day and every shot would be different.

4th Friday

This past Friday was 4th Friday at the Starline. We had a great turnout, fun exhibits and lots of people coming thru the studio.

Spotted tree stump

This tree stump had a wonderful pattern of black spots over it's cut end. I have manipulated it a little and like what I see. Let's see hwere this one goes.

Chicago glass wall reflections

Walking from the train downtown I catch a great shot of this multipart reflection in a skyscraper. I wouldn't mind doing some more pieces for that series. Just need more TIME!

Tulip two

Another shot of two tulips. Has possibilities.

Tulip time

 I planted Rembrandt tulips last fall and they are finally blooming. All the markings and sttriations of color on them offer great shots and then a chance to solarize them on Photoshop.

Tree Ring Pattern

 Another find at The Starline is a possible start to a new Line Dance: Tree Ring Pattern art quilt. I wnat to see what this one might transform into.

Walking around The Starline where my studio is I always find new things to see. Today I see red!

Rock, water, sky

 I took this photo late in the day of a dark rock in a dark stream.  Someday this will become a new art quilt. I like the textures and the mysterious feel of not quite knowing what you are looking at.

Rock River art cloth

 This is a detail from a piece of art cloth that I am currently getting ready for a customer to hang in their loft. It is part of a series of 4 pieces that were based on photos of the Rock River.  I really like the color and movement in the piece.    

Geometry lesson

 I like the  angles, circles and curves  in this photo of an old painted wall.

 I have been building images from the tree stumps and ahve had several come out in intersting ways today.

 Sterns Woods tree ring slices - so many ways to play with these images.

I discovered a whole wood pile of cut tree stumps while walking at Sterns Woods this week. A treasure trove of new possibilities for Line Dance series pieces. A couple of variations to start with.

Chinese calligraphy

 The shadows of the rings on the chinese apothecary chest look like Chinese calligraphy.

Morning light

 Early morning LIGHT crossing through the dining room and kitchen and hitting the fruit bowl.

Buddha hands

 I am still shooting the Buddha hands. Someday I will get the perfect shot - this is not it. But the more I look at them the more I see.

Fan light

 Captured this image of the light fixture in the living room. I like the way pattern from this angle became a fan instead of a cylinder.

Grey and more grey

The grey days continue - supposedly some sun today. I feel grey.

A detail from a transparent piece of lcoth that I made awhile ago. I still love hanging it in an open space where you can see changing images through it.
