Reflections in prism

Blowing snow is the order of the day but the  temperature is going up briefly. A good time to make a run to the studio and bring some project work home.

I shot this photo yesterday while cooped up in the house. I have a round glass multifaceted prism which was reflecting the window on the loft. It was fun to play with the filters to get this effect.

Early morning sunlight

This morning I walked into the kitchen and the first thing I saw was this. My cornelian cherry branches are blooming and the sunlight from the east was throwing a shadow of them on to the curtain and then the light through the curtain threw a reflection on to the table. Quick, grab the camera. It was a great way to start the day!

Blue and gold

The hangars at the airport are a couple of different colors depending on the row. I like this combination of the blue hangar with the gold hangar reflected in it. Also all the various patterns.

Reflections, var. 13 detail

I had an opportunity this week to show my work to a gallery for a possible sale. This is a detail of one of the pieces. I hope that I will hear good news later this week!

Black and white

I love black and white imagery and this photo of another water reflection shows how powerful it can be. This is as is - no changing or enhancing - you would never think this was a shot of water.

Water reflections

Another advantage of being in Cancun (other then warmth, sunshine and fun) was all the water! I took many water reflection photos while I was there. I have several shots that I like that may become new art quilts. This is one of them.

Back to ice!

The icicles around here have become quite an amazing study in structure and pattern. Many homes have icicles almost to the ground and if you are on the side of the buillding where the wind blows they  have started to bend at the bottom so they are very striking.  I took these photos of a "wall" of ice from inside the house - the sun was coming through the icicles and creating these patterns. The bottom photo is a closeup of one of the areas where all the ice has become a large mass.
