Encaustic workshop result

I took an encasutic workshop from a fellow artist, Carol Hamilton, at The Starline and in 3 hours I learned so man differentt things - all of them on this 10 x 10 square. It will be a good reference even if it is not much to look at now.  I like the immediacy of the results and all the different tones and textures you can get with such a simple medium.  I think I am hooked.  Uh oh.

Home again

This is the last picture I took at the workshop this week - a ghostly image of Gay at the ironing board at the end of the gallery hall. The end wall is created by a covering of white cloth so in this photo we are shooting through the cloth into the brighter room behind. I like the soft, shadowy quality of this photo.

Yesterday I taught a Vat Dye Workshop in my studio for 5 great students. We had a very busy and exhilarating day. Vat Dyes are magical in the way they change color and "halo". Here are a few photos of the process.
