Mindful, Day 31, A Room With a View

I am taken with this structure - all that remains are the bare bones of what used to be what? A cabin, a trading post, a cafe? Sitting partway up the Indian Canyon road with a view in every direction. The light is beautiful pouring through the empty window panes and creating patterns on the floor and walls. I especially like the one small rectangle of blue sky so vivid in the corner. If only the walls could talk.

Mindful, Day 21, Patternmaking Again

Still working my way through photos from LACMA (Los Angeles County Musem of Art). It is  interesting to look at the  indivdual photograph and the screen full of thumbnails on the computer and see the pattern of the patterns. I always gravitate to strong shapes, light and shadow and movement before anything else. This shot is up looking up at the ceiling through the giant metal sculpture that you walk under as you enter the building. I could spend hours just shooting the this one sculpture, the light and the patterns as they change and not go one step further.

Late afternoon LIGHT!

With the time change, a bit of warm weather and sunshine I ahhave new patterns on the wall in the living room. It is so good to see something bright!

Late afternoon light

We are back home in the cold after our month of sun and warmth. But this afternoon I noticed that the sunlight was coming in very brightly on the north wall. It gives me hop ehtat warmth might follow at some point.  Time to get caught up on home and studio projects!

Light lines

Following the light around the house and finding patterns everywhere.

Still in light mode

I still seem to be looking at images with light. This is photo of pavement with dots of light reflected on to it. I like all the levels that are created.

Light bright

Going through the photos from the architectural boat tour last Monday, I look again at this photo of the new Trump Tower in Chicago. It is glass and because it was rainy and dark it has a somewhat ominous appearance here. But when the light is bright is almost disappears into the sky.

Let there be light

I have this prism made of a large circle of glass with small round raised circles on the surface that sits on a table near my bedroom  window. A sliver of morning light came all the way through the house from the front window - through the dining room, the kitchen, the doorway of the bedroom and stuck the prism at just the right angle to throw a shadow of it on the blind behind it. This can only happen a couple of times a year when the sun is at the right position in the sky. I think it is so cool.
