The Valentine tulips are opening up more and more each day. This morning the sun hit just the edges of the petals and they were glowing. The closer I looked the more I saw. Instead of the glowing pink there was a beautiful gradation in the center, the small thin white lines fading into the pink, the edges like velvet. Several years ago I photographed an amarylis bulb each day as it went from a bud through the inevitable drying out and fading away. A whole lifetime recorded. Each stage beautiful in its own way.
